"Other" is a play which deals with the issues of pregnancy, abortion and sexual health.
"Other" is about the lives of three women, each with a problem:
Vicki works in a bar and is saving up to go travelling. But then she finds out she is pregnant. Her boyfriend doesn't want to know, her family won't support her and she loses her job. Desperate to keep her baby, she has to face the fact that her choices are running out. At the end of the play she feels she has no other option but to have an abortion.
Clare is happily married, until she too discovers she is pregnant. Never having wanted children, she deals with what she sees is her problem alone and seeks an abortion without telling her husband. When he discovers what she has done an intolerable strain is placed on the relationship.
Sam discovers that she has Chlamydia and has probably had it for some time. She later finds out that the infection has drastically affected her fertility. This causes her to question not only the choices she has made in the past but the choices she is left with for the future.
The lives of each character are intertwined although they never meet. The story unfolds through monologue and played out scenes from each character's perspective.

Some Feedback
We have been touring with "Other" since September 2005 and the production has been featured in the Times Educational Supplement. This is some of the reaction :
'We've been given loads of leaflets and sex education, but nobody has listened before to what our problems are with relationships and using all this stuff.' - Brecon Pupil
'The production and talkback session was spot-on in getting our pupils to open up and talk about issues. The team has an excellent style and rapport. The pupils couldn't stop talking about it.' - Stephen Baker, Brecon PSE teacher.
'This sort of production is badly needed. I'm running family planning clinics where 12 and 13-year-olds are seeking abortion.' - Mary Dumas-Tengey, Cardiff Health Visitor
'A hard-hitting production which I would recommend for senior schools. It is the sort of performance pupils need to see to stimulate thought and debate.' - Ofsted Inspector, at a Swansea school
'Congratulations on a brilliant production - the pupils couldn't stop talking about it. I am happy to give it my personal recommendation.' - Shan Davies, Head of Builth Wells School
'The play gave us lots of new information and the discussion touched on lots of things which affect people our age.' - Lewis Boys School pupils, quoted in the Times Educational Supplement
'We knew about chlamydia, but to see how it could affect you for the rest of your life was quite scary.' - Lewis Girls School pupil, quoted in the Times Edcational Supplement
